Sweetwater County Announces Schedule for Flaming
Gorge Days Mar 19, 2012

"Southwest Wyoming’s Weekend of Fun’ Showcases Sweetwater’s Great Outdoors

Sweetwater County, Wyo. – Sweetwater County, Wyo., today announced the lineup for the annual Flaming Gorge Days celebration, June 21-23. The annual event, held in Green River, kicks off the summer in style with golf, basketball, volleyball and horseshoe tournaments; live music; children’s events and more.

Flaming Gorge Days started back in 1977 as a way to raise funds for the fireworks at Green River’s Fourth of July celebration, according to Jenissa Bartlett, executive director of Sweetwater Travel & Tourism. Since then, Bartlett says, it has grown into a treasured annual festival in its own right that is a weekend favorite for locals and visitors alike.”

Bartlett notes that all of the Flaming Gorge Days events are outdoors, taking advantage of the beautiful June weather in southwest Wyoming. “June is a great time to visit Sweetwater County and to escape the heat that typically has its grip on other areas of the country this time of year,” says Bartlett. “We hope lots of people will come to enjoy Flaming Gorge Days, as well as all of the other activities Sweetwater County has to offer – like hiking, biking, fishing, camping, kayaking, wildlife viewing, four-wheeling and more!”

On Thursday, June 21, the Flaming Gorge Days Open will be held at the Rolling Hills Country Club golf course. On Friday the athletic action continues with the three-on-three basketball tournament at Evers Park, which is also the host of the Festival in the Park and children’s entertainment. That night Jack Ingram, Restless Heart and Little Texas will perform at Stratton Myer Complex. Saturday brings more three-on-three basketball, the horseshoe tournament, four-on-four volleyball, a parade, dodge ball and more. Saturday night’s entertainment is Papa Roach and Royal Bliss with special guest JUB at Stratton Myer Complex.

For an up-to-date events lineup, to purchase concert tickets, or to register for one of the tournaments visit the Flaming Gorge Days website.
