No Shave November, or Movember, is a movement that raises awareness for challenges facing men’s health by encouraging men to grow out their facial hair. If you’re participating, you may be raising awareness not only for a happier, healthier and longer life, but also for your inner mountain man to be unleashed!

Whether it’s Movember or any other time of the year, Sweetwater County – with its wide-open spaces and rugged desert landscape – is the perfect destination for mountain men, and wanna-be’s, alike. Here are the top three ways to feed the longings of the frontiersmen that lives in all of us.

Ice Fishing
This sport by its very nature is not for the faint of heart! Sweetwater County is a premier ice-fishing destination with waters that boast large lake trout, kokanee salmon, rainbow trout, channel catfish, smallmouth bass, Burbot and more. Flaming Gorge Reservoir is the crown jewel for fishing, and Green River is another scenic option.

Sweetwater County has a history of big game and game bird hunting. You can come and go on your own, or work with Red Desert Outfitters to find the best places to hunt. For laws, regulations and dates for hunting seasons in Wyoming, visit the Wyoming Game & Fish Department’s website.

Bring your 4×4 to Sweetwater County and forge your own path! You’ll have your pick of trails. Overlook the Flaming Gorge, or catch some air (and some grit!) at the Killpecker Sand Dunes. Apply for an ORV Permit online.
