Whether folks want to ride horses, hike, fish, hunt or just soak up the solitude, Pinedale is the place to start. Elk, moose, deer, antelope, big horn sheep and smaller wild creatures make theirhomes in Pinedale.
Fremont Lake is only four miles from town, and from there, the Bridger Wilderness Area is only a stone’s throw away. Blueribbon stream and lake fishing is available in any direction, with more than 1,300 lakes fed by mountain streams. The lower lakes produce big fish even in the winter, when hearty fishermen must fish through the ice. Miles of groomed trails for snowmobilers andskiers provide even more adventure for winter sportsmen.
Winter is also the time for the International Rocky Mountain Stage Stop Sled Dog Race. This grueling event qualifies racers for the famous Iditirod in Alaska. Pinedale boasts wonderfuleating establishments, from casual fare to elegant fine dining.
Accommodations for wayfarers include good hotels, dude ranches and campgrounds.
Unique shops line the rustic boardwalks, featuring everything from Western clothing to art galleries. Visitors stop at Falers General Store just to see the marvelous collection of wildlife trophies.
Rodeos are nearly a weekly event in Pinedale, with cowboys and cowgirls competing in bull riding, team roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing and bronco busting. Also, golfing is available atRendezvous Meadows in the shadow of the mountains.
